Bedmakers brings together four musicians from unique, polymorphous musical universes. Anglophone saxophonist/clarinettist Robin Fincker, drummer Fabien Duscombs, electro-acoustic violinist Mathieu Werchowski and Irish bassist Dave Kane. With this colourful line-up, the quartet plunges into the meanders of folk music, digging into this fertile sonic material matured by decades of oral tradition, extracting its melodic essence and observing it through the eyes of unlabelled improvisers. An imaginary crossroads of different musical essences, offering a repertoire with multiple itineraries, in the image of these musics that, although deeply linked to their roots, know no borders.
Two years after the release of "Live In Berlin" (Jazzdor Series), the Bedmakers travel to the legendary La Buissonne studio in the south of France to record their next opus, building new bridges between revisited folk songs, original compositions and improvised chamber music.

Passe Montagne

Nicknamed after an imaginary border-smuggler and sporting a balaclava with Zapatista overtones, Passe Montagne evokes back roads and the fleeting desire to see what lies beyond the ridge. From bourrées paying homage to Ornette Coleman to Cajun bayou grooves born from a wave of noisy clicks; ballads reminiscent of vast moors followed by reels teetering on the edge of the precipice, Bedmakers plays with everything, seeking joy, vulnerability, or trance according to the mood.

Here, only the desire for freedom and surprise inherent in music of the moment matters, combined with a repertoire of diverse soundscapes. The result is a musical kaleidoscope in which the group's sound takes precedence over individual voices, serving a shared and communicative narrative.

Over the past years Bedmakers has been performing in many prominent European jazz venues and festivals as well as setting up rural tours, sharing its music to the widest audience in France, England, Estonia, Russia, Scotland, Germany, Finland.

Performing highlights include : Meteo Festival (Mulhouse), Jazzdor Festival (Strasbourg), London Jazz Festival (London), Banlieues Bleues (Paris), Jazzebre Festival (Perpignan), Jazzdor Berlin, Atlantique Jazz Festival (Brest) amongst many others …
